2020年東京芸大卒業制作展出展

東京芸大美術館に所蔵

　東京芸大の4年生は、卒業制作展示にあたってメインの作品に加えてもう一つ、自画像の制作を課され、これまでの全ての学生の自画像作品は芸大美術館に収蔵されてきています。

　それに際して僕は上の抽象表現作品を制作しました。複雑に加工された金属表面の上で光は乱反射し、その表面には一点にピントを合わせることができない多角的な「深さ」を観察することができます。ここに僕は、一つの平面の中に無数の空間を包み込んでいる「映像ディスプレイ」との関連を見つけました。そういった観点から、この作品平面が表しているのは2次元以上3次元以下のバーチャル空間の比喩であり、この作品の前に立った時、自らの体から反射した光が無数の反射の中に散らばっていく様によって、バーチャル空間に散らばった曖昧に溶けた自らの姿に相対するという構造を作り出しています。

　同時出品作品である、 “Is your body yours?” と同様にバーチャルと人間の関係にアプローチした作品として卒業制作展では出展しました。

　また、そういったデジタルなアイデアで制作された作品でありつつも、実際には作者の手作業の跡が顕著に見えるという点では非常にアナログに作者の存在が息づいているものでもあるという点においても、自画像と呼べるものに完成されたと考えています。

    I made this work as a self portrait for the graduation work. It has a metal surface engraved complicatedly so lights are reflected diffusely, and people cannot focus on particular dimension on it. I found a relationship between this phenomena and monitor which has many spaces of movie on one flat surface. Based on these point of view, this work is a metaphor of virtual space. When people face to this, they find the lights reflected on his or her body go into the countless reflection. They see their own ambiguous body in the “virtual space”.

    “Is your body yours?”, which is exhibited at the same time was also based on similar theme. I approached the relationship between virtual world and human through these 2 works.

    And this flat work is based on this kind of digital idea, but actually this is also very analog work. Many traces of the artist's manual work can be observed on the surface. In this point, this work is concluded as a self-portrait.
